As much as I love my dining room table, I am THRILLED to announce that thanks to my hub, the storage space under the house is transformed into a FABULOUS Conscious Cosmetics studio space, meets shop, meets play station! You're invited! Join me Saturday October 15th for our Grand Studio Opening from 10 AM - 5 PM, with samples, promos, tea and chocolate brownies. Where: 759 Channelview Pl, Bowen Island (LEFT road up to Valhalla, first house to the right at the fire hydrant).

For all of you who have asked me to sell my candles over the years... I know... this has been a long time coming. Ta-da!! The first LOVE & LIGHT collection... 100% Ecosoya Wax candles up-cycled in vintage and re-purposed crystal, glass, porcelain, etc.. All candles are uniquely made and only available on Bowen. *All candles are unscented as I stay far away from fragrance (not something you and yours want to be breathing in). Adding scent from Essential Oils is possible and requires about 20% oils vs wax, this would unfortunately make the candles too costly. |

It’s been a while :) It’s been busy… my family, business, and I have moved twice since the end of last year.
Sitting on the deck of our new Bowen Island home looking out at the gorgeous view (that would be my daughter doing yoga, not me) I can breathe easily knowing that most parts of the house are in order-ish, and that my sanity is no longer held together by duck tape. I have shed half of my stuff, a process that has been vastly liberating, decluttering my home & life, freeing up space for new energy & possibility to come in. I have learned that the tiny house movement is vastly overrated, and that soul food (salt AND sugar!) are life saving in “F#ck this” moments. All is well… |
Visions of Workshops & Open Studio Days…

It happens to the best of us... As we are starting to sell in stores, we've had to change the cream jars to dark glass in order to ensure preservation of the product, and YES, we'll even have "real" labels :) All Face Cream Labels are done... next in line will be the Body, and Hand & Foot Creams, etc. |

I am super happy and excited about our new look... Having said that, moving away from our signature glass clip lock is bitter sweet. For now I am using up the "old" jars, spiced up with "new" labels. The new Face Cream Jars will hold 50ml, the new Body Creams 100ml. |

I have decided to convert to using mainly Organic Citrus Essential Oils. Citrus Essential Oils are cold pressed from the fruit peel, where typically pesticides are sprayed. Of course we are talking about minuscule amounts, as essential oils are used in the smallest doses in a formula. Organic Citrus Essential Oils are 100% more costly than their conventional versions, but still, I would like to support the farmers who are doing it RIGHT :) |

Soooo, I am introducing a new product… ‘V-cream,’ a combination vulva moisturizer and personal lubricant. This gorgeous cream is of course completely natural and unscented, and has been expressly designed to be deliciously effective, gentle, and safe.

Super huge THANK YOU for all the wonderful thoughts and feedback that I have received on my “How would you feel about blending your Cream Foundation?”
The overwhelming consensus is that we women L♥VE to mix up our own products, especially when it allows for great control over the end result.
You are the first to know that we are switching over to the “Foundation Cream Kit.” The Kit will consist of:
- Any Foundation Powder Large (7.5 gr)
- A Tube of Lemon/Grapefruit Foundation Lotion (35ml)
- A Spatula and Scoop
- Small Container (if you would like to premix for a few days on the go)
The Kit will keep you covered for months, and will be priced at $39. The Foundation Powder can also be mixed to create Foundation Cream with ANY of our other Lotions. Meaning that if you have a Lotion, you could just buy a Powder Foundation ($25) to mix with.
The Face Lotions are heavier than the Foundation Lotion, but work just as well (the Foundation Lotion will spread a bit better though, as it is lighter).
I shall endeavour to put out a “Foundation how to” video soon. Until then… easy as 1 2 3:
1. Put the amount of Lotion that covers the spatula on the back of your hand
2. Put the amount of one scoop of Foundation Powder on the back of that same hand.
3. Blend the two (takes about 7 seconds)… and apply.
* For more coverage use more Powder, for less coverage use more Lotion.
The remainder of the 35ml Foundation Cream inventory (tubes) currently residing in my fridge, will also go on sale for $10 each!!

Summer is here… Happy solstice everyone!! May you squeeze every last drop of loveliness out of this longest day of the year!
Welcome to the first “Conscious Cosmetics News Letter”… So what’s new? I have received many requests from friends especially with small children to create a safe Full Spectrum Sunblock. With the sun and warmth upon us, and time for most of us to enjoy it, I thought it was the opportune moment to create a “summer skin’s best friend”.
After much thought, research and trials (and errors!), I have created a Sun Cream with a SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of 30… and she is a beauty! Protecting the skin from UVA and UVB (full spectrum), the cream restores and repairs the effects of sun exposure, and softens, moisturizes and hydrates all at the same time, while feeling wonderful and smelling great. I would love your input! Most of us have one… a problem child. Mine is the Foundation Cream. At its best it is wonderfully smooth, providing a gorgeous glow and natural coverage. What gives the Foundation Cream it’s magic is the combination between the caring qualities of a Lemon/Grapefruit Lotion and the coverage, colour and texture of the Foundation Powder (more info).
This is where it gets tricky… one of the reasons that the product makes your kin glow is that it contains Arrowroot Powder (alive plant based) instead of just Titanium and Zinc Oxide (inorganic minerals). As I principally refuse to add any harmful preservatives into anything, the Arrowroot Powder in the Foundation Cream is very prone to mould due to contact with Aloe Vera and Silver Water, as well as contamination and higher temperatures. This problem was largely eliminated when I switched over from open containers to squeeze tubes that are to be kept cool. I have now noticed that in some of the squeeze tubes the water based liquids in the Foundation Cream are separating. This is not ideal as the balance of the product gets disturbed.
The solution to end the “Foundation Cream Challenge,” would be to offer the Lemon/Grapefruit Lotion and the Foundation Powder separate, for you to mix yourself before applying it. This is very easily done on the back of your hand or in a small separate container (provided by moi), so that you would have for a few days to come.
The great advantage of this is that you can regulate the coverage (add more powder for higher, and more lotion for less coverage) and always have a very fresh product at hand. The two separate products have a much longer lifespan of about a year for the lotion and three years for the Foundation Powder. The Foundation Powder can also be mixed with any of the other Conscious Cosmetics Lotions for those of you who would like a different scent or want a container less on your bathroom shelf.
So the big question is… would you use a Foundation Cream that needs to be mixed before use? Thoughts, ideas and feedback would be super much appreciated!!
